Biohazard

Bella's diapers are getting to be unbearable. I believe she knows this and is becoming slightly self-conscious about it, but not enough to decide to give them up. I have long been in the habit of exclaiming 'Woo!!' at a particularly bad stinky diaper, and now when I hunker down to tackle one of those she warns me, 'Don't say Woo or Whoa.' It can be hard not to exclaim at the toxicity of one. Compared to the relatively odorless and scant dirty diapers that Fiona produces it is even more offensive.
This morning Bella announced that she had to use the potty and closed the door behind her. I shrugged it off until a minute later she presented herself stripped down, asking for her potty seat. Oh- I thought, she's serious. So I , or Michelle rather, got it for her. She sat for a while and Shell read to her but she was unable to produce. We decided we would try again later and I wondered if the pressure was getting to her- various visitors asking her about potty training, all her friends at Joy School using the toilet, her new baby sister who also wears diapers and is clearly on an entirely different level than she. She asked to put on underwear and we obliged. Then we got down to business. I asked her if she was ready to give up diapers and commit to underwear full-time. Alas, no. So for now at least, we are still in diapers. 2 in diapers.
After 2 failed and miserable attempts at potty training I was adamant that I wouldn't approach the subject until she showed the initiative. However, I have to admit to a fantasy I have been nurturing. In my mind I envision Nana coming in 2 weeks and wrapping up that tidy little package. Just do it. Nana leaves and I have a potty trained little girl who is old enough to master it herself and my part is largely removed. *Sigh...

That photo is so funny. There's nothing like a tiny, newborn diaper to make a 3 year old's diaper appear scandalous and wrong. I feel for you and hope she decides to embrace the potty very soon.

P.S. When are you and Michelle going to start blogging (with photos) about her visit? I'm dying here.

That is so wrong and funny. I forget how tiny the new diapers really are. Sigh.

I too hope she embraces the diaper free lifestyle. And the dream of Nana doing it when she comes made me laugh out loud. If only.

Oh, that photo just makes me shake my head. Poor you--I just can't imagine having two in diapers.

I hope your fantasy becomes a reality! Good luck!
