Sweaty Romance

I recently rekindled an on-again, off-again romance.
We haven't had any contact for about 6 months, and even then it was spotty, although our last encounter was also at it's peak intensity.
We had an abrupt break up, but I've been toying with the idea of a rendevous for a couple of months now.
Monday it happened.
I ran.
Or, "ran", rather.
For precisely 15 minutes.
Then I walked for about 45 more after that.
The sad thing is, my "run" is about as fast as my walk, only I pick my feet up higher, it's a hell of a lot harder and it hurts more.
Tonight I repeated the humiliation, but this time endured for precisely 16.5 minutes. (I'm trying to increase my time by roughly 10% each time until I get back up to where I was, albeit briefly, 6 months ago.)
Music is vital. It's what keeps me from thinking about about the pain, discomfort and how much time I have left for the entire time. It knocks it down to about 90% of the time.
Disclaimer: Sometimes the music is running only. Something I would never listen to otherwise, and I cannot guarantee the content or subject matter of any of it. An asterisk denotes a running only song, so don't judge me.

Monday's playlist:
The Garden- Mirah
Foundations- Kate Nash
*We Run This- Missy Elliot
Run (I'm a Natural Disaster)- Gnarls Barkley
Beware of the Boys- Panjabi MC
*Forever- Chris Brown
*Come Baby Come- K7
Going On- Gnarls Barkley
*Kickstart My Heart- Motley Crue
Them Girls- Run DMC w/ Fred Durst
*Whoomp! (There it is)- Tag Team
Break My Stride- Mathew Wilder

Today's playlist:
All This Beauty- the Weepies
Nothing in My Way- Keane
Runnin' Down a Dream- Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Gone Daddy Gone- Gnarls Barkley
The Distance- Cake
Bang and Blame- REM
Everyday is a Winding Road- Prince
I Won't Back Down- Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
The Song Remains the Same- Led Zeppelin
Shiny Happy People- REM

Today is also a special day for us. It's National Running Day. So to commemorate, I went to our local running store, Run For Your Life, and got some expert advise on shoes. To make our newly rekindled love/hate romance official, I laid $100 down on new shoes.

We have another date on Friday!
Eeee!
(Exhausted, dizzy, and chilled is how you're supposed to feel after an amazing date, right?)
(Also, on our first date, I was warned that I have to drop 50 pounds pronto for this to continue. Something about he doesn't want to keep lugging around the extra weight. Maybe something about an image to protect as well. Relationships all have a give and take, right?)

Hooray for you! Keep us posted. Also, don't judge me but one of my favorite workout songs is Blue (Da ba dee) by Eiffel 65. Something about the beat just keeps me going...

Way to go! I'm re-starting tomorrow, but instead of running 15 min I'm going to settle on 2 min intervals. I'm that far gone. :(

Love your playlists. They're delightfully random. You should check out some mashups. They're the best to run to. In fact, if you'd like, I'd be happy to make you a mix.

Huzzah! I'm so proud of you. I've been wanting to start running again for ages and I know how hard it can be to start again so way to go! Also, I haven't forgotten that I owe you a review of Born To Run.

You're too funny. And by the way, did you look into that writing job I forwarded to you??! Cause you really should.

I know that I have been off the walking trail for about one month...ever since I came back from Utah. Ugh. I've only been successful one evening in the past few weeks. It is super hard to get back in the groove. But I am motivated to try a little harder with your account!

I ran for National Running Day, as well! I've been back in this game since January, and I actually feel like a "runner" now!!

I'm getting ready to have to make a big commitment to some new shoes... ouch...
