Almost 2 years ago grandma and grandpa downsized from their home of 35 years to a smaller one level house. When they moved they enlisted the help of all of their children and filled 2 1/2 dumpsters of trash! (Grandpa is quite a hoarder) In fact, grandma found a painting still wrapped in paper that she had never unwrapped when they first moved into their house in Denver! It was quite a project to move the belongings that had accumulated after raising their family in that home. True to form, grandma was quite objective in discarding many things that were not worth moving. (I would be too! I downsize our belongings every time we move, which is frequent, just so that I don't have to move them again)With evey item she asked herself whether it was worth moving.
Then I found this little gem in her 'ironing room'. I made this for her in art class when I must have been about 7 years old. (Which is obvious from the fine craftsmanship)I can't believe she kept it! She said it was one of the things that she wanted to move with and keep. I am still baffled. Only a grandma... only my grandma :)

I think you have the wrong pic posted. But it is really sweet that your grandma would pack something like that around with her. My grandma is similar and we are always amazed at the littl things she has held onto. One day, I am sure Bella will look at some of the things you have kept and will keep and wonder why you have kept some things around as well.
i know, i know... blogger is being stupid.. bear with me while i try and upload the right photo! ;)
Oh Jessie, that is a very "special" piece of art there. That means that your grandma is even more amazing than I previously thought. I can only assume it's significance was that you made it for her, because I'm thinking that I wouldn't have kept it even from my own kids. (Though your work is impressive for a 7 year old and does indicate a future of great creative success.)
That's really cool (: My family is like, the opposite. My parents keep EVERYTHING it seems like, haha. They have had all sorts of stuff acccumulating for what, 35 years? Oh man - imagine the horror of cleaning out that house someday!
BTW, we loved taking care of the kitties! Dobby was so cute - she was OBSESSED with my hair. She would jump up on my shoulders and rub around in it, and if I tried to put her down and walk away, she would just jump right back up, haha!
And we loved Wonderfalls too - I always get so sad when a good show is finished. So funny! I want to watch it again.
Grandmas are simply the best. They always make us feel special in one way or another.
That's a good shot of the, how did you put it, "cake mix" carpet, too!
I miss you!
I seriously cannot believe Grandma kept that. After hearing about everything that she threw away! She threw away good stuff that I would have wanted! I thought she was thorougly objective, but apparently there is some sentimentality knocking around in there...
