Mock not...

...Lest ye be mocked. Remember how I made fun of my grandma's confetti-cake type carpet when I was visiting there? (Well if not, that's what the archives are for. February.) Yeah well, that's apparently what I'm in for. My landlord is finally replacing our sick-nasty berber carpet that makes me gag. (Hooray!) He is replacing it with a cream carpet with flecks. (Hiss!)Cream. CREAM! Why? Why would a landlord replace one sick carpet that has not worn well with another? Why would you put a carpet that is bound to show every speck of dirt in your rental that houses a baby who notoriously spits up all over it several times a day? (I know it sounds like I'm yelling at you, but I'm really not, I'm just venting.)Sigh. I'm dreading it. I am really excited about the *idea* of new carpet, just not this new carpet. Also, he tried to put a positive spin on a dumb thing like I'm a moron. He said, " Now the only thing you guys will have to do is move all the furniture, but they'll remove the old carpet, so you don't have to worry about that." Wow! What kind of new-fangled idea is that? What high-class company is he going with that they'll even remove the old carpet? Amazing, really. I was prepared to rip it out myself. *whatever*
Then the salt in the wound was later this afternoon someone from Sundance homes called me to set up an appointment to pick out the materials in our new condo. (Erroneously-apparently they were confused and didn't realize that my husband's salary had recently been reduced by about 75% and we were no longer buying the place.) I know it doesn't sound like it, but I'm really okay with not buying it. Once I was over the initial disappointment I realized that it's probably for the best. It was just an ill-timed call. Also, I realize that I'm lucky to be getting new carpet at all, I just needed a sounding board, and that is the purpose of this post. No need for sympathy since I know I don't need any. Just venting is all.
On a cuter note, here is a cute picture of Bella, and a cute one of she and I. I took her swimming for the first time yesterday at the Orem Rec Center. It was so cute! At first she cried and insisted I held her close for warmth, but then she warmed up to it. (pun intended) She started to splash and laugh and talk. We'll have to go back soon. It was a good debut for before we go to 7 Peaks weekly this summer. (I feel a compulsion to post pictures, so even though the majority of this post really has nothing to do with her, here she is. A happy face.)
*Oh, and if any more complete strangers comment on the fact that she must really love carrots, I might lose it. Leave the girl alone!

Wow. I didn't know about the phone call from the condo lady. How terribly ironic. I'm sorry. And I'm sorry about the ugly carpet. What a mean trick. It sounds like you're trying to have a good attitude and I admire you for that. I can't wait to see pictures of Bella in her bathing suit!

Cream, really??? How crap-tacular is that? At least when you move out and it is stained you can say, "Well what did you expect replacing it with CREAM CARPET?" Now I am a little grateful for the blue carpet I loath so much. I don’t think Bella looks yellow/orange, and I hope she does like her carrots because that could mean she is on the right track to eating right. Cute pictures as usual. And even though the swimsuit shots aren’t that great, I think you should still post them to show off the blurry cuteness that is Bella.

It made my day to see those pictures of Bella! She is so darling!

Cream with flecks is a real bummer. Look on the bright side--you won't have to vacuum as often because the crumbs will look like flecks!

Bella is SO cute! I'm sorry about the gross carpet. In my old room, I had disgusting pink carpet complete with pet stains from the old owners. I always intended to rip out the carpet and leave the nice hardwood underneath showing, but I never did and I left that room with the loathsome pink carpet intact. It looked especially attractive next to the pretty dark green carpet all over the rest of the upstairs. Go figure.

I have no words of comfort about the carpet, except that at least it's new, ugly carpet instead of old, ugly carpet.

The photos are darling as usual. Apparently Bella is as photogenic as you are. Also, I find going to 7 Peaks highly traumatizing (especially the first time of the season) and now knowing you'll be there with your skinny self it's making me feel flushed with panic and slightly nauseous. You may have to go with the skinny moms, especially if you make any comments about fat whatsoever. Hee.

Oh, I'm going to start registering for BYU at the beginning of the summer. If you have any tips, e-mail me and let me know! I'm so excited!

She is so cute. Seriously. And sometime, I would love to go to the pool with you - even slide my not so attractive bod into a swimsuit to go. Because truthfully, swimming is a big guilty pleasure of mine. And not necessarily laps or anything like that - just being in the water. I love it. So I'm more than willing to tag along ;)

And sucks about the carpet - sorry, but that's moronic. I must say, I chuckled at the "cream" angst. Tis true though, you are keeping a good attitude about it, and it will be nice to at least have new carpet. (:

BTW, Bella's face in the pic with you is priceless. So cute!

I agree, new ugly carpet is better than old ugly carpet, even if cream carpet is a really stupid choice! At least you can rest easy knowing it doesn't have any icky stains lurking about.

p.s. anyone commenting about Bella's color is probably just stingy with the compliments. And they can't pass by without noticing her, right?
