Quirky

So Bella's hair was so long and scraggly that I decided it needed to be cut-by me. She has never had a haircut besides her bangs, and her third birthday is in about a week and a half. It's curly, but when you combed it out it was close to her waist- at least all the way down her back. Well, the combination of the curly nature of her hair and my absolute inexperience cutting hair meant that it just kept getting shorter and shorter in my attempt to even things out. Luckily I like the result of her new short 'do. And even more fortunate, she seems to lack any opinion on the matter. (A rarity.)This is my attempt to document what I thought was a really cute haircut and a super-cute star skirt I got her for $4. Have I mentioned how expressive Bella is? I have no idea where she gets it, but she has an array of facial expressions for every and anything.
Here is a small sampling of the gamut she runs. She's got some real winners.
General irritation, I assume.
We see this one a lot lately (above), or the full-blown version (below). I think it expresses frustration, confusion, or exasperation with us. But who really knows.
An aside- she's not actually retarded, as this picture would indicate. No offense to retarded people, seriously. Just trying to set the record straight. I'm being serious. I know it's hard to tell sometimes, especially with the type-written word and all.
Caught off guard whilst being entranced by the tv. As usual.
And finally, there's the skirt, which really doesn't seem like too much now. It is really cute in real life. That's the best I could do.
Crazy girl.

One time I tried cutting Charlotte's hair (she swears she was older than I remember her being. . .). Bad news. Suffice it to say that I am about as qualified to cut hair as I am to perform gallbladder or brain surgery.

I love it you did a good job. I love Bella's expressions, good job capturing them in pictures. Can't wait to see her and you next month!

I'm glad your hair cutting venture was successful--as referenced by Mom, hers on my hair was not. Ha, remember that girl on my floor last year who thought I was retarded when she met me?

You took me off guard with the "she's not actually retarded" comment. That's just plain funny.

Her new haircut is adorable! You're a brave woman. I never would have cut Kaitlin's hair. I'd just let it get worse and worse, and I have let it get that way. It's summer, who cares, right?

Oh Jessie, you crack me up. She doesn't look at all retarded! That comment cracked me up though!
She is so darling. You did great with her hair! I admire your bravery for doing that- I'm too scared to even attempt to cut Daniel's hair. We'd probably end up having to shave his head and start over again.

Great haircut- I love and am jealous that curls are so forgiving. She looks like she is such a kid now- no more toddler/baby fat to be seen.

LOVE the skirt- we are all about skirts over here now. Mya has one pair of shorts for the summer, the rest are skirts.

Good job on the haircut, curls are nice and forgiving! But I think she looks really cute with that length, and the skirt is cute too. I love the close up of her watching tv it shows her beautiful eyes so well.

Also thank you so much for your card I received it while in the hospital and just lifted me up, I promise to write back! I just wanted to let you know I got it and what perfect timing it was.

That expression is too hilarious! I can't believe someone so tiny has such a range, it makes her look older. Max and Lucas heard me laughing and had to come see what it was about -- they found her hilarious as well, and we can't wait to see her in person!

You are brave to cut her hair -- that is something I just don't trust myself to do -- but it looks cute!

I've totally seen you make that expression. I was thinking that other people's comments would say the same, but they did not and so I wonder if you've only made that expression towards me because you think I'M retarded.

Love the new 'do! Also, I know this isn't what your post was about but I'm also diggin' the re-apolstered chair with the lime green piping in the background.

That girl is just too cute! I think we should try cutting in to the bangs in a piecy fashion! I'm pretty sure I could do it if she'll sit still! I was worried at first when Dad told me you cut it, but it looks as cute as ever! Oh, to be cute enough that nothing matters......whenever those days were, I don't know!

Oh, those eyes!
