Since moving to the South...

1. I wave at strangers when I'm driving past.
2. I hear neighbor kids running around playing outside in the dark, in January, because it's warm enough.
3. I've been in my first trailer home.
4. I shop at Harris Teeter, which makes Jill giggle.
5. I finally learned last month that our NFL team is actually the Carolina Panthers, and not the Charlotte Panthers as I was wont to call them in my frequent sports talk.
6. I still (proudly) know nothing of Nascar. There is a major raceway one exit up from us.
7. I always hold the door for others.
8. Bella has taken to saying 'Yes Ma'am' or 'No Sir.'
9. My neighbor edges our lawn without being asked.
10. Our little family has galvanized.
11. There is still no sign of an accent for Bella. Despite what my mom says.
12. Jehovah's Witnesses often canvas our house. They're very nice.
13. Somehow I have learned a wicked spitting skill only akin to tobacco chewers. I have no explanation for this except maybe it is an environmental adaptation and I didn't even realize I could do it until recently. I only practice it in the sink when I brush my teeth at night.
