"It's Alive!"
Ewww.... I can't even describe just how creepy this sight makes me feel. It makes my skin crawl. That's the only description I can think of. It's one of my idiosyncrasies-when vegetables start sprouting. It's just not right! They're DEAD!They are not supposed to keep growing! It's like they're taking on a life of their own-but they're supposed to be dead! Doesn't pulling them from the earth halt the growing process? It's like they have power and strength beyond my power to control, and it just freaks me out! I know it may seem unreasonable, but I really hate them. Really, really hate them. So much so, that this has been growing in my pantry for almost a week and I haven't thrown it out because I don't want to touch it. I keep waiting for Timm to do it, but I haven't seen him to ask him to do it for me. Ewww... (shiver)I can't believe I am posting this picture because that means I will have to look at it and shiver every time I log on. Eww...

Ewww...I hate it when that happens to onions and potatos! I have read that the way to keep that from happening is to store them burried in sand- but who wants a bucket of sand in their kitchen and to go digging at dinner time?!?!
I am weird about milk. Like I can't drink it the day before it expires, and I can't drink it if it is not skim, ice cold and the Viva brand. If it has been sitting in a cup for more that like 10 minutes, I just can't bring myself to drink it. Maybe I drank some spoiled milk as a kid and have never gotten over it or something like that.
Yeah, I have to say "the growing" freaks me out too. EWWW.
One of the things that drives me nuts is when I am cleaning with some sort of "solution" on a surface, and all the dust, hair, etc. kinda clumps together and refuses to wipe up when its wet, if that makes sense. I just think its nasty. So I will sit there and meticulously wipe over and over it, and try various ways of "picking it up" in the cloth without my actually having to touch it.
This thing about the sprouting just cracks me up. One of my idiosyncrasies is that I hate throwing away food. I don't know if I have a scarcity mentality or what. So I always plan to eat all those leftovers in the fridge. But even if they don't get eaten, I still can't throw them away until they're obviously inedible. Is that sick?
Oh, and 'pedes! How could I have forgotten 'pedes?! That's our family shorthand for millipedes or centipedes. Spiders aren't my favorite, nor are earwigs or potato bugs, all of which we have downstairs, but nothing freaks me out like a 'pede. Marc is dying to take me to see King Kong because it has giant 'pedes in it.
I'm seriously irrational about spiders. Anything bigger than a nickel size and I'm down right squeamish about it. My adrenaline kicks in and I feel a little faint. It's ridiculous, but I feel like they're shifty little bastards and they can't be trusted to stay still. I will literally let one sit in the corner of the ceiling all day until Randy gets home rather than deal with it. Occasionally I'll be brave and suck them up with the vacuum attachments, but that gives me the willies too.
I have another weird one I forgot about (I have many) If one hand is wet, like if I wiped up and got one wet, whatever- i MUST get the other one wet. I am compelled to do it, and am completely unable to leave one hand dry, whether I want to or not. I can't explain.. slightly OCD I suppose.
To be honest, I think it is funny that you don't like to touch 'growing' vegetables. So much so that I will not throw it out, but eat it at some point when I am hungry enough to cook for myself (that may be a long time comming, gratefully, because of the new cooking arrangement). Anyway, just let it grow and I'll get to it sometime...
