Monday Minutiae

Today is back to business as usual after the weekend and our trip. I am going to clean my upstairs and go do some fun errands. I am going to Joann's to stake out some fabric for a valance in my kitchen and a tabbed curtain for my hideous sliding glass door in my kitchen. (Then I can take down the vertical blinds which are what I really hate!) I have a ton of laundry to do and other household chores. This post is lame but I felt a duty to post something, and this is all I have time for. Are you doing anything fun today?
p.s. what a cruel trick my scale played on me today- I did my usual Monday weigh-in, and the first reading told me I lost 7.5 pounds in the last 2 weeks! That would have meant that I only had 1 pound from where I was before I gained. I was so excited, I did a double-weigh (I always do just for accuracy) and then I weighed 6.5 pounds more than the first reading, thus only losing 1 pound in the last 2 weeks. Then I proceeded to step back on the scale 5 more times so I would know which one to trust. The verdict? The fat reading. Dangit.

Sorry about your crappy scale experience. I hate that. I gained .5, which was expected because I have been slowly gaining since starting this new birth control...argh, but that should all be over soon. Today I went to the doctor and it went fast, so I had some time before I had to get Mya. I went and got some coffee and read for an hour. It was splendid. Now I am about to get her down for a nap and will start to do dishes and laundry and maybe finish The Red Tent today if I am lucky. You need to call me woman...

I wanted to do something fun today--organize my scrapbook area so that I can be ready to start working by Spring Break. Instead, however, I went to the funeral of a ninety-year-old man who I've known since childhood. It was one of those uplifting funerals, except for the part when the bishop--in his closing remarks-- used a balloon and an empty water bottle to visually demonstrate how our spirit has more room to grow in the next life than it does in this one. And yes, he did let the air out of the balloon once or twice right into the microphone.

Afterwards I told Mark that I prefer not to have a balloon object lesson at my funeral.

Seriously, scales are cruel. Sometimes I weigh myself before and after I shower, and weigh 2 more pounds after the fact. I mean, come on...I'm not a sponge. I don't absorb THAT much water in the shower. So I mourn with you on that.

Cruel scale. Why does it change the reading like that? I have never even thought to weigh more than once. I just figured it would say the same thing!

I'm excited to see pictures of your valence and tab curtain. I love mini-remodeling projects! Also, your trip to Philadelphia sounded like fun. Did your parents move back to Philadelphia from North Carolina? Catch me up...

What a mean trick. I'm sorry. Keep at it though; you're still getting so close to your goal, and the fact that you lost weight while vacationing is amazing, too.

Shameless plug. I set up a blog. Now, unlike Timm, I know a bit of HTML... Enough to make minor changes to mold their template to my liking, but not enough to break it occasionally.

Regardless. Check it out.

Oh the humanity...I'm anti-scales, anti-starvation, anti-deprivation, but apparently not anti-cellulite. Go figure.

I hope your shopping outing was successful. I look forward to seeing your new curtains when they're finished.

Jessie asked the question, "Are you doing anything fun today?" That's what prompted the account of my morning. As to the meaning of the balloon object lesson at the funeral, I too am lost!
