Bella's actual first day of school felt a bit like a dry run since all of the kids weren't there and I was taking her and picking her up. Yesterday was a legitimate first day, with all 25 of the kids, complete with riding the bus. Thus, her 2nd First Day of School outfit:
This is one of my favorite skirts that I've made so far- pattern here. It seems I made it a bit too big, but at least it'll last. I embellished this plain white tee by cutting up some old jersey baby jammies and making it into a corsage tee. Add another floral pin and a button hair clip, and voila!
Bella was quite attached to the heart I made her and insisted that every t-shirt feature a breast pocket to hold it. This not being the case, I whipped her up a little purse made from a pair of thrifted purple corduroys so it could always be near.
(Please ignore all the hot glue spots...)
She's getting used to this routine.
She's loving it.
She loves the bus, and has always had cute girls to sit with. Today when she got off, she hit the ground running and literally ran all the way home. When I asked her how her day was she yelled 'Great!' as she ran away.
Today's outfit. This skirt is my number two favorite so far, pattern here. When I finish them all I am going to do a big roundup with photos of all the skirts, links to all the tutorials, and the embellished tees and accessories as well. Can't wait!

These are all very, very cute! You should make something for yourself, as well. I am sure she is the most stylish Kindergartner in school.
Oh. My. Goodness. That is the most stylish little kindergartener I have ever seen! Have I mentioned that I think I should start on Z's wardrobe now?
These clothes make my heart hurt. I don't think I've ever seen such a stylin' 5-year-old. And I pretty much love it that Bella's first days of school are document via her outfits. Way to be.
DARLING!
You're killing me a little bit with these. I love the first outfit pictured so much! I finally got started on Eva's first skirt this afternoon but it's not done yet... and she really wants to wear it tomorrow for her first day.
Hey, I just realized Fi's not making her pirate face! what gives??
Yay! I was just going to ask for an embellishment tutorial. The first outfit is just darling and you are pretty much a creative genius. Would you mind also giving an embroidery tutorial. I really want to learn but have no clue how to go about it with patterns and such. Thanks, long time reader
i think i need pocket with a little heart in it to carry with me always! soooo adorable, jesse!!
The outfits are adorable! Sickeningly adorable!
That's the next skirt I'm going to make. I made the one that you made first and now I totally get what you mean about there being too much fabric at the waist. Good grief. Totally. Eva loves it, but it's making me a little crazy.
Once the wardrobe is completed, why not do some for Etsy?! Could be good Christmas and/or orthodontia funding!
These are way too cute, and I agree with Linda that you should make some for yourself.
Ok, I'm feeling really, really inadequate as another new kindergartener's mother. Sebastian's outfits for school are store bought and while I think they're pretty cool for school, they certainly don't reflect any of my love and attention. Bella is a lucky lady. I'm going to console myself with the thought that maybe I'm saving Sebastian from being taunted by other boys were he to wear a felt flower embellished tee. :-)
