My final Valentine's craft was for my Valentine, geek that he is. So I went the geek route, hoping that he could and would hang it in his classroom. That remains to be seen, but I'll let you know where it ends up.
I thought I was quite clever, but I had to explain the pun to Bella about 10 times. She may or may not have understood by that tenth explanation, but I was still pleased.
I don't know why, but I really love macro shots of embroidery. Like, a lot. Also, I really love embroidery. Like, a lot.
I painted the hoop black to try and up the masculinity factor, with is otherwise a bit lacking in the embroidery hoop, in my opinion.
I always glue the fabric onto the back of the hoop to finish it. I often glue a grosgrain ribbon on top of that, but that didn't seem to up the manliness so I left it off of his.
Happy Valentine's Day, Geek.

You do not know me, I stumbled onto your blog somehow but I love reading your cute posts. You are funny and fun and just what my frustrated self needs at the end of the day after taking care of my rascals. Please do not be scared, I really mean it. I laughed and loved your post about bean cookies, your gift to your husband is awesome, your fabric wreaths are beautiful and so on and so on. Thanks for being funny and real. -Diedre Gray
You are hilarious! I love it! How did you get a pattern for that? Or do you draw it yourself? I guess I don't know very much about embroidery...
Wow...that is epically awesome!! As a fellow geek, I have much appreciation for the geek crafts. :)
